Bruno Onyemaechi has expressed displeasure over the delay tactics used by Libya in Friday’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers in Uyo.
A late Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s strike earned the Super Eagles a deserved 1-0 win in Group D matchday 3 encounter.
Prior to the goal, the Eagles had to deal with persistent time wasting by the visitors who used every opportunity to go down with the slightest of tackles.
Reacting to the antics from the Libyans, Onyemaechi Joked that CAF should award them for time wasting.
The left-back also described the three points secured by the Eagles as very important.
“Important 3 points ✅ , Omo caf suppose give them award on wasting time.”
Up next for Onyemaechi and his teammates is the return leg in Benghazi on Tuesday, October 15.
After the win against Libya, the Eagles remain top in Group D on seven points from three games, scoring four goals without conceding.
For the Mediterranean Knights, they are bottom in the group with just one point.
Meanwhile, in the group’s other game Benin Republic thrashed Rwanda 3-0 to and are on six points.
