A great European coach made a very strong choice for his medium-term future.

In recent months, a waltz of coaches has taken shape across the landscape of European football. Jürgen Klopp has announced his departure from Liverpool, while Thomas Tuchel will leave his role at Bayern Munich. But not all places will become available either.

Against all odds, Xavi reversed his decision and decided to continue his adventure on the bench of FC Barcelona. His former national teammate Xabi Alonso has chosen to continue at the helm of Bayer Leverkusen, despite countless requests after his historic season. And these two technicians will not be the only ones to extend the adventure.

Strong choice from this great trainer

FC Porto announced this Thursday the extension of its coach Sergio Conceiçao. The Portuguese coach has signed a new contract which binds him to the Dragons until June 2028. A strong decision for a highly rated coach on the transfer market.

Conceiçao has led the FC Porto first team since 2017, after a very notable stint at Nantes, in Ligue 1. He has won the Portuguese championship three times (2018, 2020 and 2022) and has regularly managed to lift the Lusitanian club into the the knockout stage of the Champions League. This season, Porto was eliminated in the round of 16 by Arsenal, without merit. Conceiçao will aim to return the club to the top of Portuguese football, after the strong comeback of its two main competitors in recent seasons, Benfica and Sporting.
