Manchester United are preparing a bid for Tottenham Hotspur fullback Sergio Reguilon, having cut short his tenure as a Red back in January.

Indeed, the Spaniard spent four months at Old Trafford after signing on loan from United’s Premier League rivals last September. He was targeted as a stop-gap transfer to bolster Erik ten Hag’s options on the left-hand side of defence following injuries to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the latter of which missed the entirety of the campaign.

Reguilon proceeded to make 12 appearances in all competitions – seven came from the offset, while nine were in the Premier League. After United opted to activate the break clause in their loan agreement with Spurs, he spent the remainder of the season with Brentford.

Now, with Shaw’s frequent injury woes making him an unreliable left-back to rely on over the course of a term and Malacia yet to return to first-team action since his lengthy layoff, INEOS’ transfer chiefs are scouring the market for a permanent squad addition.

Football Insider claims Dan Ashworth and co. have settled on bringing Reguilon back to familiar surroundings – but this time on a long-term deal. The 27-year-old is reportedly available for a ‘cut-price’ fee and has been deemed a ‘priority’ to provide coverage to Shaw next season.
