The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Wale Oke, has encouraged Nigerian youths to strive for self-reliance and aspire to greatness.
His call to action came during the “Youth On Fire” convention at the Victory Life Bible Church International in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The event, with the theme “Alive,” was held in honour of the late Reverend Fola Achudume, wife of the church’s Lead Pastor, Apostle Lawrence Achudume.
At the convention, Bishop Oke commended the legacy of Rev. Fola Achudume, describing her as a trailblazer whose influence would continue to impact generations to come.
“We celebrate her life, knowing that her legacy will inspire and empower many, especially the vibrant youths,” Oke said.
The bishop also ordained David Achudume, the son of Apostle Lawrence and the late Rev. Fola, urging him to build on his mother’s legacy.
“You have shown great dedication, discipline, and a heart for God,” Bishop Oke told David Achudume. “Step up your relationship with God and build upon the foundations laid by your mother. Exceed her achievements, and spread the gospel with passion.”
He also encouraged all youths to aspire to greatness, reminding them that God’s blessings would follow their hard work and faithfulness
In a heartfelt message to the young audience, Apostle Lawrence Achudume emphasised the importance of youth entrepreneurship, urging them to be self-reliant and innovative.
“The future belongs to entrepreneurs, not employees,” he said. “Create your own opportunities, innovate, and take charge of your economic destiny.”
To further support the youth, Apostle Achudume presented cash awards to young entrepreneurs in memory of his late wife, continuing her vision of empowering the next generation.
“Reverend Fola believed in the potential of young people,” he said. “She was passionate about equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to secure a brighter future.”
As part of the event, Apostle Achudume announced a free training programme in fashion design for selected youths, ensuring that Rev. Fola’s vision of empowering teenagers and young adults continues.
“This initiative keeps her legacy alive,” he stated, “supporting her belief that the youth hold the key to a transformative tomorrow.”
The convention served as a platform to not only honour Rev. Fola Achudume’s life and work but also inspire the next generation of youths to take charge of their future through hard work, innovation, and faith.
