Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa
Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, a group of youths within the ruling All Progressives Congress, The Lucky Guy, has said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had performed excellently to win the votes of the people.
The group also noted that the various achievements of the governor within the short period he got to the office had attracted the people of the state to love him.
The convener of the group, Mr Olasanya Abayomi, stated this on Sunday while inaugurating the coordinators and mobilisers of the group across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Abayomi, who is also the Chief of Protocol Officer to Governor Aiyedatiwa, stated that the governor had deployed his political exposure and experience to turn the state around in the last eight months of being in the office, adding that, if given the opportunity, he would put the state on the developmental map.
He said, “It is no longer news that Aiyedatiwa’s achievements within the short period is a unique selling point to attract the good people of the state to vote for him. His achievements and track record cannot be overlooked, especially in the area of infrastructure development.
“In the area of empowerment, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been a youth-friendly governor with a track record of promoting and encouraging youths in the state. Workers’ welfare is being given priority as salaries and pensions are paid as and when due.
“We cannot afford to draw the state backwards and this is one of the motives behind the formation of the movement, to give the youth a platform to showcase their political capacity. They are politically sound but lack the platform but the TLG is a platform that can give them the opportunity to showcase what they have. Since they are informed about what is happening in their environment, they need a platform where they can be allowed to be part of the leadership and understand how the state and country is being run.”
A member of the state House of Assembly, Mr Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, explained that the group was rooting for Aiyedatiwa over his people-oriented programmes and projects, which had fired sustainable development in the state.
Ogunwumiju, who represents Ondo West Constituency 1 in the House of Assembly, said the group was a movement that would change the face of youth participation in politics in the state.
“This movement is organic; it’s a movement that comes from the grassroots to the top echelon. From the units, wards, to local government, people are coming out to be part of the movement as youths and we hope that after the November governorship election, and victory of Aiyedatiwa, the movement will still continue,” the lawmaker said.
