The former First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has criticised the leadership of the state’s current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing it as “rudderless.”

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Star News publisher, Olumide Akinrinlola, on Thursday, Betty expressed concerns about some of Aiyedatiwa’s key decisions, particularly the reappointment of a former finance commissioner who was previously removed from office under her late husband, former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“You can connect the dots as to why Lucky brought her back. We are watching,” she said.

Her criticism comes following Akeredolu’s passing after a prolonged illness.

Betty spoke about her late husband’s battle with cancer, expressing strong criticism of reliance on spiritual interventions.

“What came out of their mountain climbing, blessed handkerchiefs, water, olive oil, etc., from the GOs and all the noisy prayers like people possessed by demons? If Aketi had listened to me, I wouldn’t be a widow,” she said.

Betty also took the opportunity to reflect on national issues, stating that the country is facing significant challenges under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“Only those benefiting would say that. You don’t need a soothsayer to tell you that all is not well in the country,” she said.

The former First Lady said she remains committed to her senatorial ambition, reiterating her readiness to continue in public service.
