The Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday inaugurated six newly appointed judges for the state’s high court at a ceremony held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure.

The newly sworn-in judges are Justices Adebisi Daomi, Adeola Adegoroye, Justinah Kpemi, Happiness Demehin-Ogunbayo, Wumi Fabuluje, and Idowu Ogunwumiju.

Aiyedatiwa described the judges’ appointment as a significant step towards strengthening the judiciary and advancing the administration of justice in the state.

“This is particularly fulfilling for me, as it marks the second time in our administration’s history that appointments to the Bench of the state judiciary have been made—and in such a large number,” Aiyedatiwa noted.

“These appointees have distinguished themselves in the practice of law and administration of justice in our dear state,” he added.

The governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the independence of the judiciary.

He urged the new judges to carry out their duties with “diligence, sobriety, courage, and the fear of God.”

In his remarks, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), commended the governor for his respect for the judiciary and his strong commitment to upholding the rule of law.

Ajulo highlighted that Aiyedatiwa’s policies and actions had consistently demonstrated a dedication to ensuring the judiciary is well-resourced for the effective delivery of justice.

He emphasised the critical collaboration between the judiciary, the legal profession, the executive, and the legislature, which had greatly improved the efficiency of the justice system in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed judges, Justice Daomi pledged that they would uphold the high standards of the judiciary and serve as exemplary ambassadors of the legal profession.

He assured the people of Ondo State that the new judges would complement the efforts of their colleagues and perform their duties with diligence and dedication.
