Will Ospreay’s signing with AEW last year created significant buzz in the wrestling community, signaling his commitment to a full-time role with the company. After the move, Ospreay disclosed that AJ Styles had reached out to him, encouraging him to consider joining WWE. Now, AJ Styles has commented on the matter.
During AEW Full Gear, Ospreay made waves with a significant announcement, revealing his intention to join AEW as a full-time competitor following the conclusion of his commitments with NJPW, slated to wrap up in February.
Will Ospreay recently mentioned in an interview that while he was deciding between WWE and AEW, he had phone conversation with AJ Styles about potentially joining WWE.
In an interview with Mark O’Brien of Irish Wrestling and Entertainment ahead of WWE Backlash, AJ Styles was asked about his phone conversation with Will Ospreay and his thoughts on the talent pool outside WWE.
“Well, it’s hard to keep my eye on what I’ve got to be focused on. What I’m focused on right now would be WWE. I’m focused on what’s going on with my own family, so it’s hard to focus on what’s going on outside of that but yeah of course why would I not want some of the best talent in the world to come to WWE I mean I think they’re great guys. “
“Listen, if he were a douchebag, I probably would have called on him to, you know, see if he wants to come here, see if we can agree with him. But, I think he’s a great talent, and there’s a lot of them out there. It’s only a matter of time before we get to them.”
Will Ospreay also defended his decision to join AEW over WWE. Nonetheless, The Aerial Assassin will continue to be one of the biggest stars in AEW right now and that is all that matters.
