AJ Styles is thrilled to have his former Bullet Club stablemate Toma Tonga with him in WWE.
SmackDown Superstar AJ Styles recently sat down with Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports. When asked about his reaction to learning that Tama Tonga was joining WWE, Styles said he wanted Tonga in the company earlier, but the timing just wasn’t right.
“Well, truth be told, I wanted him much earlier than when he came. But the timing wasn’t right,” AJ Styles admitted. “He came at the perfect time. I mean, he went from sort of in the mid-level of a card to the top, and I love it for him. He’s a good dude. He deserves it. You know what? I’m sorry, he doesn’t deserve it. We don’t deserve anything. He earned that chance to be where he is today, and I am so stinking happy for him. So glad he’s there. It’s awesome.”
Tama Tonga will have his first televised WWE match this weekend at Backlash. The MFT will team up with Solo Sikoa to take on the duo of Randy Orton and Kevin Owens.
WrestleZone will have live coverage of WWE Backlash on Saturday afternoon.
