Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has charged the re-elected state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and his executive committee to conquer new territories and expand the party’s membership base.
The governor gave this charge while addressing the state congress after the election of the party executive at the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday.
Eno, who congratulated Akpan and his executive on their re-election, assured them that he would continue to lead the state with integrity and honesty.
He added that his administration would remain responsive and responsible, as it continued to galvanize the youth and other Akwa Ibomites to the ARISE agenda.
He said, “Let me seize this opportunity to congratulate you on your well-deserved election into our party’s new executive committee. I charge you to keep our party afloat, conquer new territories, and expand the membership base of the party.”
While congratulating the immediate past party executive for leading it to victory in various elections in the state, he called on all party faithful to give the new executive the necessary support to succeed, especially in the October 5 Local Government election.
Eno also thanked the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for attending the congress, and the representatives from the national secretariat of the party and the congress organizing committee, led by Uwem Okoko, for what he described as a well-organized congress.
Emmanuel, in his remarks, appreciated the party leadership for successfully steering the party to victory in the 2023 elections and for its continued support for the governor.
In his acceptance speech, Akpan assured the party that the executive would work together to maintain the winning history of the party and ensure the re-election of the governor in 2027.
Other elected officers include Harrison Ekpo as deputy chairman, Ibanga Brownson as secretary, and Augustine Akpan, Inemesit Itina, and Ekpong Edemumoh as vice chairmen 1, 2, and 3, among others.
