Alan Pardew walked out on Newcastle United back in December 2014.

Fair to say, his career didn’t then go on an upward curve, with instead a tale of management woe for him ever since.

However, a new challenge could be at hand, according to this new report anyway.

With claims that Alan Pardew has been approached by Burnley…

The Sun report – 3 June 2024:

‘Alan Pardew contacted over first job in English football in SIX YEARS with former Newcastle boss keen on job

Alan Pardew has emerged as an early contender for the vacant manager’s job at Burnley.

The Clarets have made contact with the former West Ham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss as they start the search for a successor to Vincent Kompany.

Pardew, 62, is looking to get back into English football and is keen on the challenge to get Burnley promoted straight back to the Premier League following relegation last season.’

I can’t really see it myself.

Yes Burnley have got relegated but they had the vision to appoint somebody like the promising emerging young manager Vincent Kompany, who brought them instant promotion the last time, to then go for Alan Pardew… well, next we will hear our old mate Steve Bruce throwing his empty Greggs wrapper into the ring.

A disaster at Palace and West Brom which were his last two jobs in England, it is over six years since Alan Pardew worked here.

Pardew then turned up in Holland and won only one game with Den Haag, only saved from relegation because the Dutch league cancelled the remainder of their season in the Covid era, rather than waiting and completing it.

Moving on from there in 2020, Alan Pardew ended up as an adviser out in Bulgaria for CSKA Sofia, before very briefly managing them for a couple of months before leaving the club for good in June 2022.

September 2022 he got the manager’s job at Greek club Aris Thessaloniki, lasting only five months there before leaving in February 2023.

These past 16 months Alan Pardew waiting for the next job to come along…

However, surely that next job can’t be Burnley? Can it?
