EXCLUSIVE: After landing his first Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his work in the fourth and final season of HBO’s Succession, Alan Ruck has joined the all-star cast that has assembled to support Marc Maron in In Memoriam, the forthcoming comedy from Thelma producer Invention Studios.
His role is being kept under wraps, as has been the case with all supporting castings thus far.
Written and directed by Rob Burnett (The Fundamentals of Caring), this is the story of a veteran Hollywood actor (Maron) who becomes obsessed with securing a spot in the Academy Awards’ “In Memoriam” montage after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis. This leads to a heartfelt exploration of ego, humility, and legacy.
Also part of the stacked cast, as previously announced, are Talia Ryder, Lily Gladstone, Sharon Stone, Judy Greer, Justin Long and Michael McKean. Invention Studios’ Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza are producing alongside Maron, as well as Burnett and David Martin from Avalon. Production kicked off in Los Angeles earlier this month.
In HBO’s darkly comic drama Succession, Ruck played Connor Roy, the eldest child of the Roy family, who’s often overlooked in the competitive scramble for power within Waystar Royco, the family’s media conglomerate. The Jesse Armstrong series also brought him a SAG Award as part of the ensemble, in which he appears alongside Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun and more.
A veteran actor known for work in films ranging from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to actioners Speed and Twister, Ruck has also recently been seen in Hulu’s limited series The Dropout and Amazon’s legal drama The Burial. Other upcoming projects for him include Wind River: Rising for Castle Rock Entertainment and Netflix and 3000 Pictures’ People We Meet on Vacation.
Ruck is repped by IAG, Teitelbaum Artists Group, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
