CBS‘ single-camera comedy pilot DMV has added Alex Tarrant (NCIS: Hawai’i), Tony Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones) and Gigi Zumbado (Doctor Odyssey) in series regular roles.
They join the previously announced cast of Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer and Molly Kearney.
Written by Dana Klein based on author Katherine Heiny’s short story, DMV is a workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the DMV. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.
Tarrant will play “Noa,” a dreamy, charismatic, golden boy who seems destined for much greater things than working at the DMV. He is good at everything and never gets into awkward situations. A star surfer, he lives the “Pura Vida” life and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.
Cavalero will play “Vic,” who, before landing at the DMV, worked as a bouncer, security guard, head cook and has found his true calling as a driving examiner. While Colette (Dyer) takes the nervous drivers, he takes the entitled ones who deserve to be taken down a notch. A lovable scumbag and odd-ball, Vic has no edit, doesn’t think about consequences, and has a wildly inflated sense of himself.
Zumbado will play “Ceci,” a scrappy, tough, and sassy, counter representative who has no time for anyone’s nonsense. She’s impatient, critical, and thinks she can do everyone’s job better than they can.
The project is executive produced by Dana Klein, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger. Trent O’Donnell will direct and executive the pilot. CBS Studios is the studio.
Tarrant is repped by Gersh and Omni Artists; Cavalero is represented by Gersh, Nicole Garcia Management, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman; Zumbado is repped by by Innovative Artists, Industry Entertainment and Del Shaw Moonves.
