The return of Alexis Sanchez to OM, a year after his departure for Inter Milan, is still far from being a done deal.

The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left a big void at OM. Author of 27 goals and 11 assists in 47 matches in all competitions during his first and only season in Marseille, the Gabonese striker has not yet been replaced by the Marseille management. For several days, two names have been circulating to take over from the former Gunner at the forefront, Eddie Nketiah and Alexis Sanchez, but these files no longer seem to be moving forward.

Concerning the Chilean, who shone with the Ciel et Blanc under the orders of Igor Tudor in 2022-2023 before going to Inter Milan, two problems would prevent Pablo Longoria from closing the deal for the moment, according to Foot Mercato. His status as a non-EU player would be the main concern to resolve. With Leonardo Balerdi, Michael Murillo, Luis Henrique and recently Mason Greenwood, Roberto De Zerbi’s squad already has four, the authorized limit.

Alexis Sanchez too expensive for OM?

For the 35-year-old South American striker to sign, OM will have to part ways with one of them. And it is the Panamanian right-back, who arrived only a year ago and is nevertheless satisfactory on a sporting level, who could be pushed towards the exit. The other black point is the salary. Alexis Sanchez would be ready to accept 3.5 million euros per year, emoluments clearly equal to those of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (9 M€), but the sum would be too high for Marseille.
