The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that there is currently no substantial evidence of anti-party activities by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that would warrant disciplinary action.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that Wike has repeatedly affirmed his membership and loyalty to the party.

During an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, Abdullahi noted that the PDP will continue to recognize Wike as a member until there is clear proof of any wrongdoing. He said, “Discipline is crucial in managing a political party, but it is relative. As far as we know, Nyesom Wike remains a bona fide member of the PDP and has reiterated his commitment and loyalty to the party. Until we can substantiate claims that he is no longer aligned with the party, we must allow him to continue.”

However, Abdullahi mentioned that the Disciplinary Committee, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, will be inviting the former Rivers State governor for questioning. He assured that the committee would operate with transparency and fairness, and the National Working Committee (NWC) would abide by the committee’s decisions.

“There will be no sacred cows,” Abdullahi continued. “All party members found guilty by the committee will be sanctioned by the NWC. We have a newly formed committee for discipline, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, which includes distinguished party members, former governors, and senators. They will have the capacity to assist the party in addressing these issues.

“The committee will invite individuals, including Nyesom Wike, to answer for the allegations against them. If they are found guilty, they will be sanctioned accordingly. No one in this party will be exempt from punishment if they are associated with anti-party activities. The NWC will take appropriate action based on the committee’s recommendations,” Abdullahi concluded.
