According to revelations made by his agent, Massimiliano Allegri could have taken the reins of Real Madrid.

Giovanni Branchini, Massimiliano Allegri’s agent, has explained how his client refused to coach Real Madrid to return to Juventus.

Before returning to the Bianconeri, Allegri was close to signing with the Spanish giants, but ultimately backed out. Branchini told Relevo some anecdotes from that time, where Florentino Perez was surprised by the decision and ultimately turned to Carlo Ancelotti.

Allegri preferred Juventus to Real

“If he had said okay, Allegri would have been the coach of Real Madrid. Everything was agreed, everything, everything. But ultimately, with a heavy heart, he decided not to do it. It was a painful act for both of us. He did not sign for another club that offered him more, but he chose to stay in Italy because two things coincided: a family matter and the return proposal from Juventus.”

“I communicated the decision to José Angel Sanchez (general director of the ‘merengues’, editor’s note), I still talk to him. He’s the person I trust the most, even though I know Florentino Perez. Even in these areas, roles must be respected. If Florentino calls me, I call him, but if I call Real Madrid, I call José Angel. Real Madrid is a fantastic club, with incredible professionals. It was a dream for Allegri and, honestly, it would have been a great professional satisfaction for me too, but the reason why he didn’t sign was so human and serious that we all had to accept it. »

Today, Allegri is still in charge of the Old Lady. But, he is strongly expected to make way due to a succession of poor results from the Piedmontese. It would be a miracle to see him still in place next season.
