IMG Credit: All Elite WrestlingIt can happen. There are all kinds of ways a wrestler can get injured during a match and there is always the chance that the injury could result in a change of plans. Sometimes a match is unable to go as it was supposed to due to someone being hurt and a new finish has to be set up. That was the case this week and it happened in a match that had some stakes.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: We Think? WWE Seems To Confirm New WrestleMania 40 Match (It’s Not Entirely Clear)
This week’s AEW Collision included a quarterfinal match between Ricky Starks/Big Bill and Top Flight. Late in the match, Shawn Dean covered Starks and the referee counted to two, despite Starks not kicking out. Top Flight went on to pin Starks and advance moments later. According to Fightful Select, this was not the planned finish as Starks was could not kick out of the first cover as he was supposed to do. Darius Martin is said to have talked to the referee during the pin. The original plan was for Starks/Bill to advance and the situation resulted in a change. There is no word on if Starks is injured.
It was a busy one. Check out the match, plus Starks in AEW:
Opinion: What matters here is Starks’ health and hopefully everything is ok. Starks and Bill being eliminated from the tournament is nowhere near as important as him being ok and the fact that he was able to take a tornado DDT a few moments later would seem to be a good sign. We’ll have to wait and see what is going on, but there is always the chance that Starks was just shaken up. Hopefully that is the case and nothing worse.
What did you think of the match? Is Starks better on his own or as part of a team? Let us know in the comments below.
