Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has confirmed that he has deactivated his social media accounts in order to ‘focus on Ramadan’.
The 21-year-old, who joined United in a £37 million deal from Atalanta in 2021, has barely featured for United this season, making just three substitute appearances since returning from a knee injury in December.
On Monday, United fans spotted that Diallo had deleted all references to United on his Instagram page and left just three images of his time on loan at Sunderland, which sparked speculation over his long-term future at Old Trafford.
But Diallo, who has now deleted his Instagram page entirely, has now responded to United supporters via his Snapchat account.
‘I deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan,’ Diallo posted on Monday evening.
‘It’s a holy month for me and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during fasting.
‘Stop the hatred, there’s nothing wrong with what I did.’
Diallo was forced to miss the start of the campaign due to a knee injury and has played just 63 minutes in all competitions since returning at the end of December.
The Ivorian winger thrived during his loan spell at Sunderland in the Championship last season and was tipped to challenge for a regular role in Erik ten Hag’s squad this term.
