Dr Dawari George, an ally of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, officially rejoined the ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday.

George, who previously served as Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources in Amaechi’s cabinet, left the APC in 2022 for the Action Alliance party, under which he ran as a governorship candidate in the 2023 election.

Recall that in 2022, when asked why he left the APC for the AA, the former House of Representatives member told reporters he was “hungry for service.”

Upon his return to the APC, George was warmly welcomed by the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and members of the National Working Committee at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

The former governorship candidate did not address the media after his meeting with the party leadership. However, the APC later issued a brief statement confirming his return to the party.

The statement read, “Dr Dawari Ibietela George, the Rivers State 2023 election governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, has returned to the progressive family. He was received today by the National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other members of the National Working Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.”
