Amazon MGM Studios Picks Up ‘Burn Night’ Package From Safehouse Pictures

EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios has acquired Burn Night, a package from Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell and writer Chris Sparling. 

Project’s blurb: Seven years of the annual incident known as “Burn Night” have hardened the Lockhart family, but nothing’s prepared them for tonight. Wings blot out the stars, fire rains from the sky, and something monstrous circles above. Trapped in their lakeside community, they hold fast to each other during their desperate fight to survive until sunrise.

The feature project falls under Safehouse Pictures’ first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Austin Bowman serves as director of development for the production company.

Harold received his first Primetime Emmy nomination last year in the limited series category for Disney+/Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi on which he wrote and served as EP. Harold wrote two summer event films last year, The Flash at Warner Bros/DC and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which combined grossed over $710M WW. He’s also an EP on the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters starring Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell. Harold also directed and wrote the 2007 the crime drama, Awake, starring Jessica Alba, Terrence Howard, and Hayden Christensen. Harold also served EP on the Tom Cruise-Emily Blunt hit Edge of Tomorrow which grossed $370.5M WW at the box office.

Starling’s scribe feature credits include the Ryan Reynolds thriller, Buried, and the Gerard Butler sci-fi movie, Greenland. He is represented by UTA, Kaplan Perrone, and Lichter Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora, and Clark.

Harold is repped by CAA, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher. Tunnell is represented by CAA and Goodman, Genow, etc.
