Popular American rapper Lil Durk, has reportedly been arrested on Thursday night in Florida and charged in a murder-for-hire plot.
This comes just hours after the detention of five alleged members of his OTF collective, who were each charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.
Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, is being held at Broward County Jail pending transfer of custody to US Marshals.
The charges are linked to the 2022 fatal shooting of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, in Los Angeles. Authorities have tied the incident to ongoing gang-related disputes.
According to the federal prosecutors, the suspects namely Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, were allegedly seeking retaliation against Rondo for his suspected involvement in the 2020 murder of Chicago rapper King Von in Atlanta, according to WGN-TV.
Baller Alert notes that the indictment points to a well-coordinated plan involving alleged OTF affiliates who reportedly placed a bounty on Quando Rondo, instead his cousin Lul Pab was killed. Allegedly, members of OTF used a credit card linked to the record label to purchase plane tickets, enabling them to travel from Chicago to California after learning Quando Rondo’s location.
DJ Akademiks quickly took to social media to break the news, posting Lil Durk’s mugshot alongside a tweet captioned: “Breaking: Lil Durk has been arrested by U.S. Marshals and held in Broward County Correctional Facility until he’s extradited to California for his Federal Charge. His Charge is ‘MURDER FOR HIRE’ for the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, ‘Lul Pab.’”
