EXCLUSIVE: Amp International has boarded sales on romantic comedy, Near Miss, ahead of its festival premiere at the Edmonton International Film Festival at the end of September.

Written and directed by commercials director Jamie Rafn, the film stars David Fynn (Am I Being Unreasonable) and Tahirah Sharif (The Haunting of Bly Manor). Pic is produced by Josephine Rose (Cinderella) of Bandit Country, and Jamie Rafn of Rafn Films.

Timothy Renouf (A Very British Scandal) and Remy Beasley (Steeltown Murders) also star alongside Fynn and Sharif.

Shot across west London, the rom-com follows Jim, who married the first woman who ever showed him any interest. When she leaves him fifteen years later he is reluctantly thrust back into the dating game as his friends determine to have him hit the dating apps and play the field. Only problem is, despite all their efforts, he has now fallen in love with the second person ever to show him any interest.

Fynn is next set to feature in Robert Zemeckis’s anticipated Here, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. He is currently starring alongside David Morrissey and Aimee Lou Wood in Daddy Issues for the BBC and also has the new Harlan Coben show, Lazarus, launching on Amazon later in the year, where he stars with Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy.

Sharif is next reprising her lead role in season three of The Tower, a role for which she was BAFTA nominated. She also recently starred in A Town Called Malice on Sky.

Renouf is currently filming the newly rebooted Bergerac series for UKTV, airing in 2025; and Beasley was most recently seen in One Day, and will next be in the BBC thriller Nightsleeper, alongside Joe Cole.

Rafn’s work includes directing the Budweiser ‘Flash Fans’ commercial, which premiered during the Super Bowl. In 2009 he directed the brand film ‘The Man Who Walked Around the World’ for Johnnie Walker, starring Robert Carlyle. The film won him the Gold Lion at Cannes.

APM International’s Head of Sales, Acquisitions & Distribution Anthony Buckner said: “It is fantastic to be working with Bandit Country once again and look I forward to forging a long lasting relationship with the talent that is Jamie Rafn. Near Miss is the laugh out loud comedy we all need right now! I look forward to bringing it to the international market place.”

Fynn is repped by Independent Talent and Gersh. Sharif is repped by Independent Talent and Mosaic. Renouf is repped by United Agents, and Beasley by Denton Brierley.
