EXCLUSIVE: With the Toronto world premiere of her dark comedy Nightbitch just two days away, Amy Adams has closed a deal to produce and star in Lazy Susans, a new comedy coming together at 20th Century Studios.

Oscar nominees Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids) and Stan Chervin (Moneyball) have been tapped to pen the script for the film about a group of moms who form a rock band. A director is not yet attached. Adams will also produce alongside Stacy O’Neil through their Bond Group Entertainment banner, along with Vivek Tiwary and Jack Leslie.

A six-time Oscar nominee, Adams will next be seen in the aforementioned Nightbitch, Marielle Heller’s adaptation of the 2021 novel from Rachel Yoder, in which the life of a stay-at-home mom takes a surreal turn. She and O’Neil also produced the pic, which Searchlight Pictures is releasing on December 6. Most recently, she wrapped opposite Jenna Ortega on Klara and the Sun — Taika Waiti’s dystopian sci-fi pic for Sony’s 3000 Pictures, based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro — as well as the drama At the Sea from Pieces of a Woman helmer Kornél Mundruczó, in which she stars opposite Murray Bartlett, Brett Goldstein and more. Adams is represented by Linden Entertainment, WME, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Mumolo garnered an Oscar nomination for co-writing Bridesmaids, the hugely popular 2011 comedy helmed for Universal by Paul Feig, which she also co-produced and starred in opposite Kristen Wiig. Subsequently teaming with Wiig to co-write and star in cult Lionsgate comedy Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, she also got story by credit on and exec produced David O. Russell’s drama Joy. As an actor, Mumolo has most recently been seen starring opposite Anne Hathaway in Michael Showalter’s hit Amazon rom-com The Idea of You. She is repped by UTA, Thruline Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Nominated for an Academy Award for his contributions to the story of Bennett Miller’s Moneyball, Chervin is repped by Well Told, Gersh, and attorney David Colden.
