A well-known name at the Stade Vélodrome made a touching confession this Sunday.

In more than a century of history, theOlympic Marseille has rarely brought out talent from its academy. André Ayew was one of them. Like Samir Nasri, the Ghanaian international launched his professional career with the white and sky blue jersey, quickly establishing himself as one of the darlings of the Stade Vélodrome.

For almost ten years, André Ayew has no longer been an Olympique de Marseille player. And if he returned to the Ligue 1 landscape to bring his experience to Le Havre, the Ghanaian international confided that he would have liked to return to OM one day.

“OM never contacted me again”

In an interview with L’Équipe, the attacking midfielder expressed his thoughts. “My departure from Marseille was very difficult to swallow. It wasn’t a time when I was thinking of leaving the club, but it had financial problems and the majority of key players had to leave. At the beginning, in my head, if I came back to France, it was to OM. But OM never contacted me again”

Words which obviously made OM supporters react. Many fans of the club would have liked to see André Ayew return to the Vélodrome. This will be the case under another tunic.
