Anambra bizman arraigned over alleged threat to life

The Nigeria Police on Monday arraigned a 39-year-old businessman, Tochukwu Nwosu, before the Magistrate Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill his elder brother, Dr Chinwike  Oke-Nwosu.

The defendant is facing 11 counts bordering on wilful damage, unlawful damage, assault, and threat to life preferred against him, by the police.

Nwosu, who resides at No. 3 Nwosu Lane, Agbana Ngene Village, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was arraigned before Magistrate E. C. Chukwu.

The police told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in October 2021, at the address mentioned above.

Nwosu was alleged to have willfully and unlawfully damaged a concrete fanciful slab constructed at the terminal end of a fence wall  and the current replacement value is yet to be ascertained.

The defendant was also accused of unlawfully damaging a concrete fence wall together with the security barbed wire installed on the property of Dr Oke-Nwosu.

He was further accused of wilfully and without lawful authority committing a nuisance on a concrete fence wall by installing a metal gate on the fence wall after damaging the said fence wall.

Nwosu was said to have unlawfully assaulted his elder brother Oke-Nwosu by threatening to kill him.

According to the charge, the offences committed contravened Sections, 415(1), 252, of the Criminal Code, Cap 36 Vol. II, Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 1991, and section 7, of the Prohibition of Fraudulent Practices on Land and Property Law of Anambra State, 2012.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

The case was adjourned till further hearing.
