Former Sweden head coach Janne Andersson has revealed he was close to managing the Super Eagles, but turned down the opportunity over unfavorable contract terms.

Andersson was linked with the Super Eagles coaching job following Finidi George’s resignation in June.

The 62-year-old was reportedly close to reaching an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The gaffer however disclosed the situation wasn’t perfect for him.

“I have had many inquiries. Some I said no to, and others I listened to, but they didn’t go anywhere. I received two serious offers from Latvia and Nigeria, but I chose to reject them,” Andersson told Swedish newspaper Hallandsposten.

“Nigeria was very persistent and wanted me to take the job. There were many appealing aspects, but the overall situation wasn’t perfect. It didn’t feel 100 percent right, and it has to feel that way for me to fully commit.”

Andersson also declared that he is cautious of his next move.

“It would take a lot for me to take on a new coaching job. I am selective and have other things going on, like mentorship and board roles,” he added.
