Andoni Iraola has been speaking ahead of Sunday’s match.

Newcastle United the visitors, as Bournemouth play their first home game of the season.

This weekend marks 125 years of Bournemouth as a football club and Andoni Iraola sees it as fitting that Eddie Howe will be there as the occasion is marked. Though obviously we are hoping that the NUFC boss and his players will spoil the celebrations.

Andoni Iraola also speaking about the threat Newcastle United pose.

Andoni Iraola asked about Newcastle United and their win over Southampton:

“It’s not a lot of help for us because the first game they played was very conditioned by the red card.

“They are very good and experienced players.

“When you see Bruno [Guimaraes], Joelinton, [Alexander] Isak, [Anthony] Gordon… even if they are playing with one less they will always be a threat.”

Andoni Iraola on Lloyd Kelly making a swift return to Bournemouth:

“He was very good for us.

“Before I arrived and last season he was phenomenal.

“I wish him all the best.

“Obviously I don’t want him to play well on Sunday but he is a very good defender and it will be tough for whoever he has in front of him.”

Andoni Iraola asked about this weekend marking 125 years of Bournemouth as a football club:

“It is probably very fitting that Eddie [Howe] comes with Newcastle.

“He is a big part of the history of the club.

“125 years is a lot of years, a lot of history.

“It is special to be part of such a special moment.”

Andoni Iraola on £40m new striker Evanilson:

“Evanilson trained well and he will for sure be involved in the game.

“I expect that he starts well if he has the chance to play.

“Hopefully he takes everything quickly that we are trying to tell him, it’s difficult when they arrive – particularly with the language but he has trained well.

“We don’t want to give him all the information, it’s probably too much. But we want to give him the most important things that are specific to him and his position.

“I think he’s obviously got a great profile, he’s comfortable finishing but also help us in the link-up play.

“Technically he is sharp, he will help the overall offensive game of the team, not only the finishing side.”
