EXCLUSIVE: Andrea Londo (Narcos) is set for a key recurring role in Matlock, CBS‘ upcoming drama series inspired by the classic TV series of the same name, starring Kathy Bates.

From Jennie Snyder Urman, Matlock stars Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm (Beau Bridges), is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills.

Londo will play Simone, a new junior associate at the law firm who remembers Sarah (Leah Lewis) fondly from law school. However, Sarah believes she is her arch nemesis and in this competitive environment it’s hard to know who to trust.

David Del Rio also stars.

Urman executive produces with Joanna Klein, Eric Christian Olsen, John Will and Bates. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

Londo is maybe best known from her scene-stealing role as Maria Salazar in Season 3 of Narcos. On the film side, she was one of the leads in Sony’s Superfly remake. She was most recently seen in Nicole Gomez Fisher’s Good Egg, which was acquired by Vertical at TIFF in 2023, and next will be seen in Adventure Tom, a road trip dramedy written and directed for Create Entertainment by Miguel Duran (Monsoon), set for release in late 2024. Londo is repped by Gersh and Principal Entertainment LA.

Matlock is set to premiere September 22 on CBS.
