One of the greatest midfielders in history says goodbye to football. Andrés Iniesta, absolute legend of FC Barcelona and the Spanish selection, has made the decision to retire. As the former La Roja player (130 caps, 13 goals) indicated on his Twitter account, he will officially announce his decision on October 8, in honor of his favorite jersey number. Among his 13 goals, the most important of all, in the final of the 2010 World Cup which gave Spain its only world champion title and marked the pinnacle of a fabulous career for the former Blaugrana.
Double winner of the Euro (2008, 2012), quadruple winner of the Champions League (2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015), but also nine times La Liga champion… Andrés Iniesta’s track record is too long to list everything. The one who had disappeared from the radar a little after his departure from Barça in 2018 continued his career with Japan at Vissel Kobe, before making a final stint last season in the United Arab Emirates. At 40, the maestro therefore decides to hang up his boots for good, before why not returning as a coach as the latter had already mentioned.
