Manchester United have been warned against signing Matthijs de Ligt.
The Bayern Munich defender has fallen down the pecking order in Munich since the arrival of Kim min-Jae from Napoli.
De Ligt, 24, has been linked with a summer move to United. The former Ajax defender would be reunited with Erik ten Hag should he sign for the Reds.
United have struggled defensively this season and a number of our defenders face uncertain futures, including Raphael Varane.
Former United striker Andy Cole has warned the club against signing De Ligt, who endured a difficult spell at Juventus prior to his switch to Bayern Munich.
“If he’s had tough times at both Juventus and Bayern Munich, then how can you suggest that he will be a success at Manchester United? Matthijs is another player that’s played for Ten Hag and the majority of signings that Erik’s made during his time at the club have been players that he’s managed previously,” Cole told Betfair, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“The Premier League is a totally different league and the ocean is very, very big when it comes to players.”
Sky Germany recently ran a report suggesting De Ligt is open to the idea of leaving Bayern if the right offer comes in.
