The manner in which Tottenham Hotspur fell away at the back end of last season clearly irked Ange Postecoglou if his demeanour in press conferences was anything to go by.

Up until the last few games there was a reasonable chance that the North Londoners could qualify for next season’s Champions League, but a series of reverses and poor performances put paid to that.

Perhaps the nadir was the attitude of many towards Spurs potentially handing rivals Arsenal the title, had they beaten Man City at White Hart Lane.

It’s obvious that things need to change at the club, and according to The Standard, Postecoglou will authorise at least two player sales, though many more could leave the Lilywhites this summer.

Though he had well-reported personal troubles during the season, Richarlison’s form never really recovered on the pitch, so it’s not a surprise that the Brazilian would be one of the players that Spurs will listen to offers for.

His countryman, Emerson Royal, is another to be attracting serious interest, and if Tottenham can cash in now, it seems likely that they will aim to do so.

The outlet also report that all of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, Sergio Reguilon, Tanguy Ndombele, Japhet Tanganga, Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon could be surplus to requirements.

Were a large number of those named be moved on then they’ll need to be replaced, and there’s never really been a summer where a big contingent of players has been brought in.

Therefore, an evolution rather than a revolution might be preferable, if Postecoglou wants to get the best out of his squad during the 2024/25 campaign.

After a brilliant start last season under his stewardship, the last thing the Spurs faithful would want is for the team to slip back into its usual ways and habits.
