As the National Women’s Soccer League offseason gets closer to completion and preseason looms, teams continue to sign players for the upcoming season and Angel City is no exception. On Monday, the team announced that LA-local Lily Nabet has been re-signed through the 2025 season.

The Equalizer spoke to the midfielder about her new contract, her hopes for the upcoming season, what she’s learned in her first two years in the league, and giving back to the community.

“I’m so happy honestly to be back home,” said Nabet of her new contract. “To play under [head coach] Becki [Tweed] and just be back with my girls. So I’m super excited.”

In 2023, Angel City got off to a rough start, and by mid-June found themselves 11th out of 12 in the regular season standings. This led to a coaching change, as Freya Coombe was let go and assistant coach Becki Tweed was tapped as the interim head coach. What happened next was nothing short of miraculous as the squad went on an 11-game unbeaten streak and ended up beating Portland on Decision Day to clinch a spot in the LA-based club’s first postseason.
