Anna Jay will debut for NJPW at their upcoming Fighting Spirit event.
The AEW star has recently been on an excursion in Japan. She wrestled in the Stardom 5Star Grand Prix, essentially Stardom’s version of the G1 Climax.
She had a good showing in the tournament. Anna Jay picked up wins over Koguma, Miyu Amasaki, and Sendai Girls World Champion Saori Anou, although she failed to progress beyond the group phase.
Anna Jay reflected well on her time in Stardom. The AEW star will wrestle for another Japanese promotion following her time in Stardom. However, it will be for NJPW, and not Stardom.
NJPW announced that Anna Jay will be wrestling on its Fighting Spirit event in Lowell, Massachusetts on November 8th. She is competing against three other women, all yet to be announced, with the winner earning a shot at the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.
Mercedes Moné, her fellow star in AEW, is the current holder of the title. If she wins, Anna Jay could take her title shot in AEW or NJPW. However, it seems more likely she’d have it on the Japanese promotion’s show.
Other wrestlers confirmed for the show include G1 Climax Winner Zack Sabre Jr, Tomohiro Ishii and Gabe Kidd. The women’s four-way match is the first match announced for the show, although many more are expected to be revealed before the event broadcasts on November 8th, 2024.
