The Wild Robot grossed only a fifth of what Inside Out 2 gorged on worldwide this year, but it took bragging rights as the 2025 Annie Awards nominations were revealed today.
The Universal/DreamWorks Animation leads the field with 10 noms, ahead of the Disney/Pixar juggernaut and Aardman’s stop-motion Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, which landed seven each. Check out the list of all 32 categories below.
All three will vie in the marquee Best Feature race against Netflix pics That Christmas — which was third with six noms — and Ultraman: Rising and DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda. The winners will claim their prizes at the 52nd annual Annie Awards ceremony on February 8 at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Westwood.
The Wild Robot also is up for two Voice Acting awards for Lupita Nyong’o, who plays the title character Rozzum, and Kit Connor, who plays voices a gosling whose family Roz accidently kills. Its nominations also include Best Direction (Chris Sanders), FX, Character Animation and Design, among others.
Inside Out 2, the Disney sequel that became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, also will vie for Best Writing, Voice Acting, Character Animation and more. Vengeance Most Fowl is in races including Best Direction (Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham), FX, Character Animation and others.

Since the Best Animated Feature Oscar category was launched in 2002, 14 of the 22 winners of the Annies’ top feature prize – and seven of the past 12 – went on to claim the golden statuette. But last year bucked the trend as the Academy Award went to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron over Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which had dominated the 2024 Annies.
Vying for the Best Feature – Independent prize are Chicken for Linda!, Flow, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Mars Express and Memoir of a Snail. The Short Subject race pits Beautiful Men, In the Shadow of the Cypress and Wander to Wonder against Ruthless Blade and The Swineherd, the latter two of which didn’t make the Oscar shortlist for Animated Short Film this week.

As for the small screen, Netflix’s 2022 Animated Series Emmy winner Arcane leads the way with seven Annie noms. The series inspired by the League of Legends video game wrapped its second and final season last month.
