Olympique de Marseille are reportedly in talks with Hellas Verona for their Cameroonian international defender Jackson Tchachoua.

Olympique de Marseille still needs to register a bunch of recruits to continue the total facelift of the squad desired by Roberto De Zerbi, the new coach, and the Pablo Longoria-Mehdi Benatia tandem. In recent days, it is on the defense side that OM seems to have been active.

With Chancel Mbemba and Samuel Gigot invited to join the “loft” of the undesirables, the Marseille hinge is for the moment only composed of three axials, Leonardo Balerdi, who will be captain at the start of the season, Lilian Brassier, who arrived in the close season from Brest, and Bamo Meïté, who the staff intends to test at the right-back position initially.

10 million requested

According to Calcio News 24, Marseille are currently focused on what would be the fourth Cameroonian player in their squad, with Simon Simon Ngapandouetnbu, François-Régis Mughe and Faris Moumbagna. Jackson Tchatchoua, the central defender of Hellas Verona, has reportedly been the subject of an offer of €8 million from OM. The 22-year-old player, who was born in Belgium and trained there, notably at Standard Liège and Charleroi, would be available for around €10 million, which does not seem unattainable for OM if this player is really wanted by the staff.

Tchatchoua has two caps with the Indomitable Lions and has been wearing the Hellas Verona jersey since last season, when he was on loan from Charleroi. Hellas has exercised the purchase option on the player, but could quickly try to make a capital gain if the Olympian offer materializes.
