After a disappointing end to their 2023/24 campaign, it was always going to follow that Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, was going to change things around this summer.

Right up until the last few games of the season, the Lilywhites were in with a chance of making next season’s Champions League.

However, five losses from their last seven matches, per WhoScored, was enough to see them out of contention for the premier European football club tournament.

Tottenham could lose Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Atletico Madrid

In press conferences and interviews at the end of the season, the Australian’s ire was palpable, and so it’s no surprise that he is clearing out certain players ahead of the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

One player that almost left the club last summer was Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and it now appears that the Dane could finally be on his way out of North London.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Juventus, Napoli and Fulham all have an interest in the player, however, Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid, appear to be the favourites to secure his services.

It was the Rojiblancos that came closest to signing him 12 months ago but a deal never managed to get over the line.

The Spanish top-flight side have seemingly kept tabs on the player since then and are now in a position to be able to land him.

Given that he never really featured as a regular under Postecoglou – WhoScored note just eight starts in 2023/24, it’s a move that makes sense for all parties, and leaves some room in club coffers for the Tottenham manager to utilise as he makes progress on bringing in a handful of new faces.

Whilst he’ll clearly want to see an improvement from last season, Postecoglou isn’t necessarily under pressure either from Daniel Levy or the Spurs board, given that he’s only just getting started with his project.
