Anthony Bowens sees The Gunns as the Joker to The Acclaimed’s Batman.

Austin and Colten Gunn have been a thorn in the side of The Acclaimed in recent years. They took the AEW Tag Team titles from Bowens and Max Caster in 2022, and recently traded the AEW Trios titles at AEW Dynasty (alongside Jay White).

Bowens recently appeared on Evan Mack’s World of Wrestling. He was asked about his opinion of The Gunns and how far they’ve come in the business.

While he was hesitant to say nice things about them, Bowens called the brothers “fantastic professional wrestlers”. He noted that they deserve more credit than they get, and that there was a reason he wanted to team with them in the past.

I don’t like saying nice things about them, but I will say one thing. They are a perfect example of what I spoke about before, where fans like the Gunns are fantastic professional wrestlers. They’re fantastic performers; they know what they’re doing in the ring. There’s a reason why we wanted to pair with them years ago, before they ruined everything. Before they became jealous turds, we were friends. We recognized their talent, and they recognized ours. We gelled together.”

Anthony Bowens: We’re Going To Be Fighting These Guys Forever

Anthony Bowens continued. The Acclaimed member likened their relationship to The Gunns to Batman and The Joker from DC comics. He thinks that they are “going to be fighting these guys forever”, in a Batman/Joker-type situation.

“Of course, we know what happened. Billy realized how crappy they were and aligned with us. They couldn’t handle the jealousy, and so on and so on. But they are fantastic performers in the ring. They need to be given a lot more credit than they get. It’s making me sick to continue giving them positive comments, so I’m going to end it there, and I will never say that again. No more positive ass boy talk because they took the Tag Team titles away from us and the trios titles away from us.”

“I said it before, I think it’s going to end up being a Batman-Joker type scenario with these two clowns. We’re going to be fighting these guys forever, and I’m happy to fight them forever because, again, they are quality performers, and I do like beating them up.”
