“I have got a little son.
“So they are memories that will stay with me forever.
“Yeah, so I don’t think they (Newcastle United fans) quite know, what it meant to me.
“I heard about it yesterday, but until I saw it today, I didn’t know how I would feel.
“I was almost crying on the pitch.
“It was a bit of an adrenaline rush.
“Yeah, [but] it doesn’t surprise me [from the fans] to be honest.”
Anthony Gordon asked how does he keep his cool when taking a penalty in such a high pressure situation?
“I’ve got a process for penalties, where I sort of check a few things off.
“Try and breathe, zone out.
“Take the pen on my terms, rather than the referee’s whistle, or the keeper’s [terms].
“I just take it when I feel ready.”
