Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is considering a lucrative offer from AEK Athens, according to reports in Greece.
The 28-year-old remains without a club after he left United as a free agent earlier this summer.
Martial spent nine years at United but made just 19 appearances last season due to injury.
The Frenchman had been linked with a return to Ligue 1 with Lille reportedly interested in a move.
However, the French club’s president, Olivier Letang, ruled out a move for the former United attacker last weekend.
Asked if Lille had made contact with Martial, Letang said: ‘No. Absolutely none.
‘I’m not in the habit of stockpiling players. We have Jonathan David, Mohamed Bayo, and Matias Fernandez-Pardo. That’s already three solutions for one position.’
According to Sport24, AEK Athens have tabled an offer for Martial which has been described as ‘the biggest contract in the club’s history’.
The report claims that AEK Athens are waiting on Martial’s reply, with the forward said to be unconvinced about a move to the Greek top flight.
Speaking in June, Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley said: ‘Anthony has made sure to be fit and ready for his new club. He has been training normally for two months.
‘He is 28-years-old. I hear reports that he would be too financially greedy with the clubs. This is not true.
‘Anthony wants an ambitious project to achieve high club goals and get back into the France team.
‘He will choose his club according to the sporting and family project.
‘The finances are important for any professional player but they are not his priority.’
AEK Athens finished second in Greece’s Super League last season but are not in Europe this term after they were knockout out in the Europa Conference League qualifying round last month.
