The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu has officially resumed his duties at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.

The resumption followed the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, which declared Anyanwu as the valid National Secretary of the party.

Justice Inyang Ekwo in his judgment restrained the National Leadership of the party from appointing any person when the four-year tenure of Anyanwu is still running and subsisting till December 9, 2025 in line with the party constitution.

Trouble started for Anyanwu when he won the primary of the party and became the candidate of the last Imo governorship election.

Immediately Anyanwu started his campaign, the South East Caucus of the PDP under the leadership of the National Vice Chairman South East, Ali Odefa met and endorsed Udeh Okoye to replace Anyanwu, a development that was resisted by the Anyanwu and the National Working Committee (NWC).

The crisis led to the appointment of Setonji Koshoedo as the acting secretary following conflicting court judgments.

In a video seen by Daily Trust, Anyanwu was seen arriving at the National Secretariat and moving to his office as Secretariat staff and supporters were seen hailing him and welcoming him back to the secretariat.
