The former Lyon player allowed his new team to win in extremis against Al Kholood (0-1) during the first day of the Saudi championship.

A sluggish start for Al-Ittihad. The club, now managed by Laurent Blanc, struggled to win on the pitch of a promoted team, Al Kholood (0-1), during the first day of the Saudi championship.

While Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté were starters, as was new recruit Moussa Diaby, it was another newcomer who gave the victory to the Jeddah club, Houssem Aouar. On a move initiated by Benzema, the former Lyonnais took a cross back from the left to score in added time (90th + 4).
