A new mobile application, Jama Jama, has been launched to connect artisans, including electricians, plumbers, tailors, welders, bakers, and carpenters, with potential customers in Lagos.

The app aims to provide a secure online platform for individuals and organisations to hire certified artisans.

The Chief Operating Officer of the app company, Miss Abiola Sodiq, emphasised the app’s user-friendly experience.

“The Jama Jama app ensures an easy experience for both service providers and those seeking services, allowing users to hire skilled professionals at fair prices,” she said.

The launch is expected to enhance the visibility of local artisans and improve access to skilled labor in the region, potentially transforming the way services are sourced in Lagos.

Sodiq, who explained how artisans, service providers, and individuals could easily navigate the app, said all the artisans registered in their app were certified.

“Payment is made directly to Jama Jama, and we charge only five per cent of the money charged by the artisans. We pay back to the artisans as soon as there is a confirmation that the job is done by the artisan and the job owner.

We do this within 24 hours,” Sodiq said.

Speaking at the unveiling, an official from the Youth and Social Development unit of the Shomolu Local Council, Idowu Adewale, pointed out that the app is essentially designed for skilled artisans, stressing that, with the platform, the money charged is safe and the work as well.

He pinpointed that such a veritable platform is capable of weeding out trial and error risks.”The platform has come to stay whether we like it or not. I advise the artisans to fashion out how they can make maximum use of the Jama Jama app.”

The former Councilor of the Somolu LG also advised on the need for artisans to undergo training from time to time, while promising that the Jama Jama App would continue to be upgraded to meet the trend of time.

Also speaking, the SSA to the Somolu Local Government Council Chairman, Ruth Ayomide, applauded the Jama Jama initiative, saying that it would boost the business opportunities for artisans.

“Jama Jama App gives you connections and makes it easy for your business. It also acts as an intermediary between those looking for service and the service providers,” Ayomide said.

The Chief Executive Officer of R Entertainment, Mr Emeka Okwuokei, said, “Jama Jama App is here to make something easier for all of us. There is a new trend for skilled workers. There is even a skilled visa for them. The app will make your visibility easy.

“It connects all skilled workers and makes them visible. It also gives you options for trusted professionals that will deliver excellent services. It is guaranteed to meet safe, trusted professionals,” Okwuokei stated.
