Apple TV+ has set Wednesday, September 4 as the premiere date for its BAFTA Award-winning espionage series Slow Horses. Following a two-episode drop on premiere day, one new episode weekly will be released every Wednesday through October.

Adapted from Spook Street, the fourth novel in the Mick Herron spy series Slough House, Slow Horses stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but misanthropic leader of spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world. Last series won two BAFTAs and was nominated for another three.

The returning ensemble cast also includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan and Jonathan Pryce.

For season 4, Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke and James Callis are set to join, further bolstering the ensemble,

Adam Randall (I See You) is directing the fourth season, which will “open with a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House.”

In addition to the upcoming season, Apple TV+ recently renewed the show for a fifth season set to be adapted from the fifth novel, London Rules. Season 2 debuted last December and seasons three and four have been shot back to back in a rare move for a streamer.

Slow Horses is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for TV by Will Smith (Veep). Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Jane Robertson, Julian Stevens, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Graham Yost and Smith serve as executive producers. Season 4 is directed by Adam Randall.
