Both partners have rolled out a new crypto smartphone dubbed JamboPhone to make it easy for users in developing nations to access the Aptos blockchain. Aptos Enters Smartphone Market Following Solana’s Lead

Aptos Foundation’s unveiling of the JamboPhone marks a significant move, positioning Aptos as the second blockchain protocol to introduce its smartphone, following in the footsteps of Solana.

Solana had earlier released its first Android smartphone, the Saga, in June 2022 through its subsidiary Solana Mobile. Initially priced at $1000, the Saga saw a price drop to $599 after failing to attract significant interest.

However, the dynamics changed in December 2023 when the price of the Solana-based memecoin Bonk surged, creating an arbitrage opportunity, as the Saga came bundled with 30 million of these tokens. The protocol’s limited stock of 20,000 phones quickly sold out in the United States and Europe, although some orders were canceled and refunded due to inventory issues.
