Earlier this morning, actor Malaika Arora performed the final rites of her father Anil Mehta in the city after he passed away on September 11. Several Bollywood celebs including Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Arbaaz Khan and others were seen attending the funeral. After performing all the last rites, more celebs have now arrived at her mother’s residence Ayesha Manor to visit Malaika to offer condolence. Arbaaz Khan was seen arriving with his wife Sshura Khan to support her.
Further, Shilpa Shetty was seen arriving with her sister Shamita Shetty to visit Malla during her difficult time. Even other stars like Dia Mirza, Gauri Khan and others were also spotted outside her mother’s residence. Kareena Kapoor also came back to her house to stand in solidarity with her best friend Malla.
During the funeral, Malla’s ex-boyfriend Arjun Kapoor was standing rock solid beside her and ensuring that she was okay.
Malaika Arora shares an official statement post her father death
The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Out family is in deep shock by this loss and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect. With gratitude, Joyce, Malaika Amrita, Shakeel, Arhaan Khan.”
Malaika’s parents divorced when she was 11 years old, and she moved to Chembur with her mother and sister Amrita. Malaika Arora’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, is a Malayali Christian, and her father, Anil Arora, was a Punjabi Hindu from the Indian border town of Fazilka. He worked in the Indian Merchant Navy. Malaika and her sister Amrita Arora are close to their parents and often celebrate Christmas and other festivals together. In fact, Malaika is often seen sharing pictures with their parents from the celebration on Instagram.
