Now that we’ve had a little time to process the shock that the long-awaited second season to Fortiche’s incredible League of Legends prequel Arcane will be it’s last, we can begin to brace for the world of hurt that’s about to come Cait, Vi, and Jinx’s way–along with the rest of Piltover and Zaun. Because if this new trailer is an indicator, a lot of extremely wild stuff is ready to send Arcane off with one hell of a bang.

This morning Netflix released our best look yet at the follow up to Fortiche’s surprise smash hit debut season, which dropped in 2021 to much acclaim for not just its incredible animation work, but how it deftly managed to introduce the world of the massive MOBA League of Legends to an audience that has never touched the game before. The climax of season one saw a surprise assault on the ruling council of the lavish, technologically advanced city of Piltover by Jinx (Fallout sensation Ella Purnell) disrupt plans to diffuse the tensions between itself and its neighbouring undercity, Zaun, and now things are not just back to being on the edge, but ready to jump straight off in full on civil conflict.

With Cait and Jinx’s sister Vi (Katie Leung and Hailee Steinfeld, respectively) now firmly on the side of Piltover to bring Jinx in as she becomes ascendant as a symbol of Zaun’s aspirations for independence, it looks like Jinx and Vi’s divergent paths are ready to come smashing back together… and no one’s going to particularly come out of the other side without some blood and bruises, or even worse.

Arcane returns to Netflix one final time this November. While fans wait to learn when, exactly, Netflix and Riot also marked the trailer’s release with the debut of the first song from Arcane season 2’s soundtrack, “Paint the Town Blue”, a collaboration with Ashnikko.
