Chelsea are closing in on the transfer of Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.

According to The Athletic, talks between Chelsea and Boca Juniors are at an advanced stage but a final agreement has yet to be reached.

Talks are moving positively and personal terms are not considered a hurdle.

Boca are set to pocket £17 million for the highly-rated 19-year-old, but the deal includes add-ons so there is potential for the Argentine club to make more money from the transfer.

Anselmino is on the verge of signing a six-year deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2030 and will join Strasbourg on loan ahead of the new season.

Earlier this week it was reported that Boca were expecting Manchester United to make an offer for Anselmino to rival Chelsea’s approach.

TYC Sports suggested there was a ‘concrete chance’ United would attempt to hijack any attempts to sign Anselmino, but only time will tell if the boat has sailed on that front.

It looks like United have other defenders in mind after recently having a bid for Jarrad Branthwaite rejected.

That said, Chelsea must not think he is quite ready for the Premier League since they are happy to loan him out to Strasbourg.
