Ariana DeBose Talks About Her Reality TV Days & How She Overcame Rejection

Ariana DeBose is opening up about getting her start on reality TV and how she overcame rejection to become a Broadway star and Oscar-winning actress.

The 33-year-old actress, who stars in Prime Video’s new horror film House of Spoils, is appearing on the new episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show airing on Friday (October 4).

Ariana and Jennifer bonded over dealing with rejection from reality shows and both going on to win Oscars.

If you didn’t know, Ariana was a contestant on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance when she was 18.

“It’s wild when I think about that journey and I’m sure you feel similarly. I did that show when I was 18. I didn’t know nothing about nothing. I wasn’t really thinking about all of the things that came with that, but I learned so much very quickly about the business of the business. The most important thing that I realized, or had to learn, was that rejection doesn’t have to define you. It’s so hard, especially when you’re 18 and a lot of things are happening to you so quickly and you don’t know which way is up. But if you can learn that reframe, it has changed my life. I didn’t need to win that show to be a successful person, and neither did you!” Ariana said.
