Feyenoord manager Arne Slot would now be best placed to take charge of Liverpool.

Liverpool have a new candidate for their coaching position. This is the current coach of Feyenoord, Arne Slot. The information was confirmed by the British media The Athletic.

Discussions between the two parties have already started and they are said to be positive. Slot is under contract until 2026 in Rotterdam but his management is ready to let him leave if an agreement is reached. The coach is represented by Rafaela Pimenta, the famous agent of Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland.

Slot was not the first choice

If he joins Liverpool, Slot hopes to experience more success there than the previous great Batavian coach who emigrated to England, in the person of Erik Ten Hag (Manchester United).

The Reds turned to Slot after negotiations with Xabi Alonso failed. Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Paulo Fonseca were also mentioned as candidates, but in the end there was nothing concrete.
