The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has commiserated with the government and people of Osun State over the death of the Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran.

Oba Aromolaran, a first-class monarch in Osun State and one of the oldest in Yorubaland, passed away on Thursday at the age of 86 after a 42-year reign.

In a condolence statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, the Speaker noted that the deceased monarch “was one of the most lettered traditional rulers in the country Who made a great impact as an educator in the 1970s and 1980s.”

Abbas recalled how the monarch authored standard textbooks on economics and literature that were recommended for secondary school students.

“Oba Aromolaran was a great king who made remarkable impacts before and during his reign,” the Speaker said.

Abbas also commiserated with the Aromolaran family and Ijesa people, while also extending condolences to the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
